Nigerien special forces are now equipped with the powerful Bulgarian made 7.62 x 39 mm AR-M52T assault rifles, providing them with superior firepower and precision.

The country’s special forces contingent were seen during the Flintlock 2023 joint exercise with the Bulgarian firearm. The country’s military forces typically uses the various variants of the Soviet-built AKMs assault rifle, RPD and RPK squad automatic weapons, as well as the Chinese Type 56 assault rifle.

This powerful weapon is capable of firing in both semi-automatic and fully-automatic modes with an impressive rate of fire of up to 700 rounds per minute. It features a robust construction and is equipped with a range of features that make it ideal for special forces operations.

The AR-M52T is fitted with a 30 round magazine, allowing for efficient and sustained fire. It has an adjustable gas block, allowing for easy adjustment of the gas pressure for optimal performance in different environments. Additionally, the rifle is fitted with a Picatinny rail, allowing for the mounting of optics, laser sights, and other accessories.

The AR-M52T is also equipped with a side folding and collapsible stock for easy transport, storage, and quick deployment in tight spaces. This makes it an ideal weapon for close quarters and urban combat. The rifle is also fitted with a muzzle brake that reduces recoil and muzzle rise, allowing for more accurate shooting.

Meanwhile, the Nigerién Armed Forces (FAN) has acquired one hundred (100) new KIA KM450 utility vehicles to improve the mobility and operational proficiency of its soldiers.

The KIA KM450 utility vehicles were acquired with equity from the Ministry of National Defence to effectively fight against insecurity.

The 2S25M Sprut-SDM1 is a modernized version of the 2S25 Sprut-SD self-propelled anti-tank gun designed and manufactured by the Russian defense Company Tractor Plants. The 2S25M was specially designed to be used by the Russian airborne troops as an anti-tank vehicle. The modernization of the 2S25 increases reliability and improves technical characteristics by unification with BMD-4M chassis components. According to a representative of Russian defense contractor Tractor Plants, the firepower of the 2S25M Sprut-SDM1 air-droppable self-propelled anti-tank gun is on par with that of the T-90MS main battle tank.
