Osprea Logistics, a South African defence company, has announced that has delivered Mamba Mk7 armoured vehicles to a West African country.

The Mamba Mk7 is a 4×4 armoured personnel carrier that is designed to protect its occupants from mines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and small arms fire. It is equipped with a V-shaped hull that deflects the blast from mines and IEDs, and it has a crew compartment that is armoured to withstand gunfire. The Mamba Mk7 is also equipped with a variety of other features, such as run-flat tires and a fire suppression system.

The West African country that has ordered the Mamba Mk7 is facing a number of security challenges, including terrorism and insurgency. The vehicles will be used to protect soldiers and other security personnel from these threats.

The delivery of the Mamba Mk7 is a significant boost to the South African defence industry. It is a sign that the Mamba Mk7 is a competitive vehicle in the global armoured vehicle market. The deal is also a vote of confidence in Osprea Logistics, which is a leading supplier of armoured vehicles to the African continent.

This March, Osprea delivered 50 Mamba armoured vehicles to an unnamed African military for use in peacekeeping operations

The Mamba Mk7 is an armoured personnel carrier that has been used by African countries for peacekeeping and counter-terrorism operations. Kenya and Uganda have both operated Mambas in Somalia under the AMISOM peacekeeping mission. In 2020, 22 Mk 7s were supplied to Kenya while Uganda received 23 in the same year.

Several African countries already operate the Mamba armoured vehicles such as Niger which received 57 vehicles in August 2020, and December 2019 for its fight against terrorism, transnational organized crime, and trafficking in the Sahel. 16 Mambas were transferred to the G5 Sahel force from the United States Army’s African Command (AFRICOM) on March 31, 2021.

Likewise, Togo operates over 100 Mamba Mk 7s which it ordered around 2020. Chad also operates the type.

The Mamba Mk7 is a proven vehicle that has been used by African countries for a variety of missions. It is a valuable asset to any military force that is facing security challenges. It is a well-protected vehicle that can withstand mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). It is also equipped with a variety of weapons, making it a valuable asset for peacekeeping and counter-terrorism operations.

The use of the Mamba Mk7 in Africa is a sign of the growing demand for armoured vehicles in the region. The ongoing conflicts in Somalia, the Sahel, and other parts of Africa have created a need for reliable and effective armored vehicles that can protect soldiers from the threats they face.
