Israeli-made MC-Horizon 360D counter unmanned aerial system has been used by the Mozambican military to neutralize three Islamic State drones.

At least three commercial drones used for surveillance were deployed by the Islamic State terror group operating in the north of the country.

Manufactured by MCTECH RF Technologies, the MC-Horizon 360D V3 system is a rapidly-deployable tactical system capable of protecting troops from rogue UAVs.

The systems were designed to protect squad or manoeuvring forces in the field and allow them freedom of action without the risk of being attacked or exposed by enemy drones.

Ido Bar-Oz, the company’s vice president, said: “We are witnessing the widespread use of drones by terrorists’ organizations around the world and especially in African terror cells.

We are pleased to hear that the systems in the service of the Mozambican army have been successful in defending against ISIS attacks. This is certainly impressive evidence of the importance of integrating that system in the battle field protecting the manoeuvring forces”.

According to MCTECH, the system model MC-Horizon D360BP V3 tactical systems were supplied to the Mozambican army at the end of 2021.

The system is a reactive system carried by a soldier, and automatically detects the drone’s presence at a range exceeding 2.5 kilometres and neutralizes them before they become a real threat.

The MC-Horizon D360BP V3 tactical system has also been successfully exported to Kenya for defending its airspace against drones flown by Al Shabaab in Somalia.
