The Akeron MP/MMP Anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) is a powerful weapon that provides a much needed boost to Egypt’s defense capabilities. They were displayed alongside RPG-32 and Nashshab shoulder-launched unguided anti-tank rocket system.

This missile has been issued to the Egyptian Navy’s special forces and is capable of delivering immense destructive power against armored targets. Its high-precision guidance system ensures accuracy and its advanced propulsion system allows it to achieve maximum flight speed. Its solid fuel rocket motor ensures high speed and range, allowing it to engage targets at greater distances.

Developed for the French Army’s requirements under the name Missile Moyenne Portée (MMP), the Akeron MP is a fifth-generation weapon that can be employed in the anti-tank, anti-structure, and anti-personnel role at ranges of more than 4 km.

The Akeron is equipped with an advanced tandem warhead that can penetrate tough armor and its high-explosive fragmentation warhead can be used to attack both stationary and moving targets. Its lightweight design makes it easy to carry and transport and its multi-purpose launcher allows the operator to switch between various missile types with ease. This versatility allows the missile to be used in a variety of scenarios and terrains, making it an invaluable asset to the Egyptian Navy’s special forces.

Egypt Army already field around 12,000 units acquired in 3 batches between 1998-2012, which includes a $319 mil for 6,928 units in 2008.

Other weapons displayed by the Egyptian naval Special Forces Brigade included the RPG-32 Nashshab anti-tank rocket system, which is produced jointly by Jordan and Russia. The long-range rifles displayed by the brigade included the Barret M107 and Accuracy International AX308. Live-fire demonstrations were conducted with short-barrelled 7.62×39 mm CZ Bren 2 rifles.
