Ruag to supply Ivorian army with combat simulators

Ruag Defence France, a subsidiary of Swiss holding company Ruag, will supply and install combat simulator systems for the Ivorian defence ministry. 

The deal was signed by the Ivorian Defence minister Tiéné Birahima Ouattara during the recently held Shield Africa 2021 defence exhibition.

RUAG Defence France, which specialize in simulation and training systems is based in Terssac in the department Tarn. It is a part of RUAG Simulation & Training SA, a business unit of the RUAG MRO International division, which belongs to the RUAG International Group.

The company’s SITTAL is a simulator for indoor shooting used for training of small arms operators at the individual and collective levels. SITTAL simulator is widely used by for initial and refresher training for soldiers.

The new combat simulators will likely be installed at the advanced Counter-Terrorism Academy (AILCT) in Jacqueville, near Abidjan in Cote d’Ivoire established by the French Ministry of Defense and use for training special force operators in counterterrorism.

The 2S25M Sprut-SDM1 is a modernized version of the 2S25 Sprut-SD self-propelled anti-tank gun designed and manufactured by the Russian defense Company Tractor Plants. The modernization of the 2S25 increases reliability and improves technical characteristics by unification with BMD-4M chassis components. According to a representative of Russian defense contractor Tractor Plants, the firepower of the 2S25M Sprut-SDM1 air-droppable self-propelled anti-tank gun is on par with that of the T-90MS main battle tank.
