The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) has now acquired RADA Electronic Industries Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radar (MHR) to protect its base and infrastructure against hostile fire.
The Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radar (MHR) will provide critical early warning capability against incoming projectiles.
According to RADA Electronic Industries, the MHR radar systems will
detect, track, classify and locate all types of direct and elevated fires, including: Rockets, Artillery, Mortars (RAM), ATGMs, RPGs, Low-QE Rockets, Small Arms, and more.
The system will also classify the threats, calculate the POO (point of origin) and POI (point of impact) with tactical accuracies, display tracking and provide audible and visual warning/alert, as well as data over Ethernet to external C4I systems for alerting the threatened forces.
It appears that RADA’s Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radar (MHR) family were deployed in MINUSMA frontier bases in late November and early December 2018.
Each system consists of four ieMHR S-band pulse doppler, Software-Defined, AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) Antenna based on GaN Amplifiers
A single radar platform provides 90º azimuth coverage using MHR.
Hemispheric coverage is achieved when four/three identical and interchangeable radars are employed as a system.
