BIRD Aerosystems, a global provider of innovative defense technology and solutions that protect the air, sea, and land fleets of governments and related agencies, launched a new business line of Land systems and unveiled two new products for the first time at the Eurosatory exhibition: Hybrid-Eye, an advanced hybrid detection system that enhances the protection of armored vehicles, and µMPR, a miniature airborne radar for ground and maritime border surveillance.

Leveraging BIRD Aerosystems’ radar solutions, optical technologies, and advanced algorithms implemented in its worldwide combat-proven airborne solutions, the new all-in-one miniaturized solutions are ideal for medium to small platforms, offering a new level of detection and protection that wasn’t part of the capabilities of such systems before.

Tailored for Active Protection Systems (APS) and Vehicle Protection Systems (VPS), the system provides rapid detection, confirmation and tracking of a wide range of threats, including anti-tank missiles, RPG’s, drones and artillery shells, while maintaining a single LRU design and smallest SWAP available in the market.

Integrating a Phased Array Radar, multiple IR warning detectors and a Laser warning detector, the Hybrid-EYE uses BIRD’s advanced in-house fusion algorithms to achieve superior multi-band detection and tracking of multiple threats regardless of how cluttered or saturated the environment is. Compact and lightweight, the Hybrid-Eye sensor enables easy installation & maintenance on ground vehicles of all sizes, and is fully compatible with any Hard-Kill or Soft-Kill systems while providing the operator comprehensive situational awareness capabilities around the vehicle.

µMPR (Micro Maritime Patrol Radar) is a miniature airborne radar with advanced proprietary technology for maritime border protection. Ideal for installation on small aerial unmanned platforms, small helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, the µMPR leverages BIRD’s radar technologies along with millimeter-wave (mmW) technology to cut through sea clutter, improve detection capability, and significantly increase mission effectiveness and cost-efficiency.

Ronen Factor, Co-CEO and Founder at BIRD Aerosystems: “We are proud to expand our offerings further, and present BIRD’s new business line of land systems for the first time at the Eurosatory exhibition.

Small and lightweight, The Hybrid Eye and the µMPR employ BIRD’s most advanced technologies that have proved their effectiveness over years of operational activity worldwide. As the recent conflict in Ukraine showed us, the importance of these systems for the protection of soldiers’ lives is undoubted.

With both solutions already under contracts, I believe that this technological leap only marks the beginning of our activity in this arena”.
