Tunisia’s elite anti terror battalion (BAT) is fielding the throwable Throwbot® 2 (TB2) robot for door-to-door clearance operations.

Details of this came to the fore during a military exercise (MILEX) held on 15 July and intended to hone their skills.

According to information obtained by Military Africa, the Throwbot® 2 (TB2) robot is a throwable micro-robot platform that enables operators to obtain instantaneous video and audio reconnaissance within indoor or outdoor environments.

Once deployed, the robot can be directed to move through a structure and transmit realtime video and audio to the OCU II. These reconnaissance features can locate and identify subjects, confirm presence of hostages and reveal the room layout.

The Throwbot 2 enhances indoor clearance by locating and identifying targets, confirming the presence of histages as well as revealing the layout of a room before it can be breached.

The Throwbot® 2 robot can be thrown into hazardous situations in order to allow operators to quickly make informed decisions.
