Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) has secured a contract for 40 mm grenade and 76 mm gun ammunition from an international client.

A press release on 4 December by the company disclosed that an international client had ordered 40 mm Low Velocity High Explosive and High Explosive Dual Purpose ammunition, with delivery beginning this year and the client’s order for 76 mm high explosive naval ammunition will be completed in 2021.

According to Rheinmetall, the 40 mm round is used by infantry forces and enabling engagement at ranges of 400 metres, whereas the 76mm/62mm ammunition is used by the Navy. Apparently, more orders is expected soon.
While offering exceptional accuracy, Rheinmetall Denel Munition’s Medium Velocity 40 mm ammunition has a maximum range of 800 metres, exceeding conventional extended range Low Velocity variants by up to 375 metres.
