Paramount Mbombe 6

The Mbombe family reflects the evolving demands of the global battlefield. Its advanced construction offers unparalleled protection levels, ensuring the safety of military personnel.

Paramount, the global aerospace and defence technology company based in the UAE, has announced that its 6×6 Infantry Combat Vehicle (ICV), the Mbombe 6, has been ordered by national defence forces in Latin America and the Southern African Development Community (SADEC). This announcement comes during the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) event held in London, where Paramount revealed that over 20 of these next-generation ICVs are currently in production, with deliveries already underway.

As global tensions continue to rise, there has been substantial demand for advanced armoured vehicles, which prompted Paramount to release new market research indicating a resurgence in global armoured vehicle spending. The research predicts that between 2022 and 2035, global expenditures on certain armoured vehicle programs will reach $25.6 billion.

Paramount’s Mbombe armoured vehicle family is well-positioned to meet this increased demand. At the forefront of armoured vehicle technology, the Mbombe family offers exceptional protection levels, ensuring the safety of military personnel.

Steve Griessel, Global CEO of Paramount, stated, “Paramount has always been at the vanguard of innovation, particularly in the realm of asymmetrical warfare. Leveraging our decades of experience, we’ve crafted the Mbombe vehicle family to meet the demands of the modern battlefield. It’s a potent blend of unparalleled protection and strategic mobility.”

He further emphasized Paramount’s commitment to becoming a technology-driven global OEM, focusing on intellectual property (IP) licensing and establishing global partnerships. Paramount aims to provide modular and proven solutions for enhancing armoured vehicle capabilities, tailored to meet precise mission requirements.

Paramount’s portable production concept locates manufacturing activities within the customer’s country, driving indigenous innovation, reducing maintenance costs, and ensuring long-term support.

Griessel concluded, “Modularity, maintenance, and cost advantages have emerged as pivotal factors for global armed forces. Through leveraging the comparative advantage of affordable overhead costs, reduced maintenance burden, and improved strategic mobility, our company is primed for continued industry and regional expansion; propelling economic diversification and sustainable growth in the process for our partners in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.”

The versatile Mbombe 6 is equipped to handle various military assignments, including counterterrorism, border patrol, and peacekeeping missions. The entire Mbombe family of armoured vehicles shares an 80% commonality in technologies and components, offering significant cost benefits due to greater efficiencies, savings in maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO), as well as in training and logistical support.
