Mauritanian National Army gets new ALTV Light Tactical Vehicle donated from France

Forces of the Mauritanian National Army has been gifted ten ALTV Light Tactical Vehicle by France as part of its on going counter terrorism operations in the Sahel region.

Mauritania is part of the G5 Sahel CTCOIN forces which includes Chad, Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso.

The vehicles were handed over to Chief of Staff of Mauritania’s military, Mohamed Ould Sheikh Mohamed Ahmed, on 25 January by French Ambassador Joel Meyer.

ALTVs are in widespread service in Africa, with more than 200 vehicles having been delivered to Benin, Niger, Mauritania, Congo, Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, Chad and Equatorial Guinea.

The ALTV vehicle produced by ACMAT Defense has been sold to more than twenty countries since 2009. The 1000th unit is to be delivered before the end of the year.

The ALTV comes in single and double cabin pick-up, torpedo, command car, checkpoint and station wagon versions, and can adapt to a variety of missions including troop transport, border surveillance, reconnaissance, patrol, ambulance duties, firefighting, vehicle recovery, cargo transport, armored car role, etc.
